In October 2019, Eddie Zammit curated an exhibition in Australia to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sesame Street, aptly titled “50 Years & Counting.” This showcase paid tribute to the cultural impact of Sesame Street, highlighting its enduring legacy over half a century. Zammit’s curatorial efforts involved handpicking fifty local and international artists who reimagined both well-known and lesser-known characters that have contributed to the show’s 50 seasons. Additionally, he oversaw the overall art direction and the installation of the gallery space. Originally scheduled to conclude in February 2020, the exhibition was extended just before the onset of the Covid pandemic.
Notably, a decade prior, Zammit had featured Sesame Street in his self-published journal, T-world, specifically focusing on the show’s 40th season. This earlier project encompassed articles, artwork, and interviews dedicated to highlighting the influence and significance of Sesame Street in popular culture.
